James Acton BA (Hons) DipSurv MRICS heads up the Birmingham office for Gordon Brothers. In his role James is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with restructuring and insolvency professionals, accountants, private clients, clearing banks, private equity houses and asset-based lenders.

James has over 15 years’ experience in asset valuation. He started his career as a graduate surveyor at Edward Symmons in January 2005, progressing to Associate Partner and Head of Machinery and Business Assets division in Birmingham by 2009, looking after a team of valuers and sub-contractors.

Throughout his career James has gained vast experience and completed major online auction sales across a range of industry sectors including construction, general engineering and fabrication, woodworking, automotive, printing, transport and logistics. He has been involved with business sales, independent business reviews, private client disposals and valuations for financial accounting purposes.

James is a RICS registered valuer and has been MRICS qualified since April 2008.
