We were appointed by administrators EY to help improve Republic’s trading position and drive sales when the fashion chain fell into difficulties in early 2013. Originally launched in 1986 as Best Jeans, Republic was one of the UK’s leading multi-brand high street retailers with 121 stores nationwide. Using our extensive knowledge and expertise in retail we developed a programme to quickly turnaround declining sales and ensure that stores could continue trading. Our team of experts was deployed to deliver an aggressive and strategic marketing campaign, utilising communication strategies that would connect with the brand’s young, tech-savvy consumer base. A proactive social media campaign helped to drive brand awareness and media attention to increase Republic’s social currency. Our team took responsibility for retail sales processes, management of all in-store activity, supplier negotiations, marketing and helping to generate vital cash to maximise turnover. We also worked alongside administrators EY to ensure these strategies would optimise the brand’s sales prospects. Our programme doubled like-for-like sales, whilst maintaining a positive margin and resulted in the clearance of 32% of stock within the first 15 days. By taking ownership of trading sales at Republic, EY was able to focus on stabilising the business, its employees and searching for a suitable buyer. Republic was bought out of administration in February 2013, saving the retail brand and many jobs.
Provided strategic restructuring and operational expertise to drive sales and support the search for a buyer.
