In December 2019 Gordon Brothers was appointed by the Administrator to trade out the inventory and fixtures, fittings, and equipment (“FF&E”) of Bardot after the women’s apparel chain entered into Voluntary Administration. Bardot launched in 1996 and is a Melbourne-based retailer specialising in women’s apparel and fashion. The chain expanded into children’s apparel after opening its “Bardot Junior” division in 2004.
Initially Gordon Brothers realised approximately A$17 million of inventory and FF&E across 42 Bardot stores. A second phase of closures was ordered by the Administrator in January 2020, and Gordon Brothers closed an additional 14 stores containing approximately A$8 million of inventory. Throughout both phases Gordon Brothers worked closely with the Administrator to provide a flexible plan that facilitated operations and the entire store closure program.
A specifically designed marketing and trading strategy from Gordon Brothers saw the successful closure of all 56 stores and realisation of A$25 million of inventory and FF&E, all within the prescribed time period.
