Brendan Smyth
Senior Director, Valuations
Brendan Smyth is responsible for leading the Valuations business in Australia to deliver comprehensive asset valuations to the restructuring/insolvency sector and lending community, including asset-based lenders, private equity firms, corporate management teams, investment funds and professional advisors.
As an industry-leading appraisal expert, Brendan comes to Gordon Brothers with more than a decade of asset valuation experience and extensive knowledge of retail, consumer, and industrial inventory, along with machinery and equipment valuations. He has conducted over 450 valuation projects for various asset-based lending, mergers and acquisition and insolvency transactions totaling over A$4bn and spanning 15 countries throughout Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia.
Brendan has conducted high-profile assignments from major companies with typical turnovers in excess A$100m. His exposure encompasses all parts of various industry supply chains, including listed companies, small and medium enterprises, major original equipment manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers. He possesses broad knowledge across many industry sectors including: automotive, aerospace, metals and other commodities, mining, timber, paper, chemicals, military, electronics, apparel, packaging, construction, agricultural, pharmaceuticals, transport, food and beverage and consumer goods.
Prior to joining Gordon Brothers, Brendan worked at Hilco Global, initially in London, UK, before establishing and growing Hilco’s valuations business in Sydney. Before entering the valuation industry, he worked as a buyer for an Australian national retailer.
